The Book of Silver is the second of three volumes of the Pure-Blood Directory (widely believed to have been Caelus Kyvern), which catalogues the wizarding families believed to be "truly pure" by the 1930's. The three tiers of blood purity are based on knowledge of a family's magical lineage.
Families listed in The Book of Gold have recorded family lineages from more than 1000 years, families in The Book of Silver have recorded lineages dating back for the last 750 years and those listed in The Book of Bronze have recorded lineages dating back more than 500 years.
